The Brief

How do we evolve an established platform into a visual system centred around people, connecting Singapore’s communities, heritage and energy future?

01 / Context

The Challenge

For years, City Energy’s Technical Seminar had established itself as an authoritative platform within the energy industry. However, the brand needed to take its next major step: transforming the seminar into its flagship event, the Future Energy Forum 2026.

The design challenge was an exercise in strategic balance.

We needed to refresh the event brand and elevate its narrative into something broader and more aspirational, without breaking away from its historical foundation. The visual system had to communicate one clear idea: this comes from a proven format, but it is now scaling into something much bigger.

From a functional perspective, the system had to be bulletproof. Images needed to live inside a strict circular composition, support a people centred narrative around energy transition, and maintain perfect legibility at every scale.

02 /THE VISION

The Strategic Approach

To avoid falling into a cold and purely industrial aesthetic, built around cables, infrastructure and sterile technical imagery, Personaje Studio made a deliberate shift towards a human centred approach. If the energy of the future depends on collaboration, the design system had to reflect that same idea.

We placed people at the centre of the visual narrative to highlight knowledge exchange, shared progress and City Energy’s leadership within the sector.

Geometry became the key conceptual device. We used the circle as a metaphor for an energy ecosphere, a connected, dynamic system in constant evolution. This decision was essential to communicate that FEF 2026 is not an isolated event, but part of a larger shared journey.

The Visual System and Design: We developed the Key Visual by structuring the visual narrative across three cohesive layers that work in perfect synchrony.

Legacy: Human Warmth: We integrated selected photography from the historical seminar and moments of collaboration. This anchors the event’s credibility while bringing a warmer and more approachable tone, balancing its institutional weight.

Continuity: Circular Structure: The circle acts as the backbone of the design. It is not a decorative element, but the narrative device that brings the system together, representing the interconnection between sectors, ideas and people.

The Future: Energy Pathway: A stylised energy pathway connects the brand’s low carbon solutions, including solar, EV and hydrogen, directly with Singapore’s skyline. It becomes a clear symbol of City Energy’s active role in shaping the city of tomorrow.

Technical Resolution and Refinement

Design in the real world demands rigour. During the development and feedback phase, we faced a technical challenge around scale and image compression. We identified that the narrative required images with exceptional clarity in order to survive the circular crops across every application.

We carefully curated the photographic archive, replacing weaker images with high definition B2B alternatives that ensured a sharp reading of the message in any format, from a mobile screen to a large scale event backdrop.

The Visual Identity System

The result is a strategic, versatile and deeply human visual system.

We successfully connected the event’s technical legacy with the innovation of tomorrow, showing that both are part of the same journey.

The final version did more than give the event a new face. It reinforced FEF 2026 as a flagship expansion built on solid foundations, ready to lead the energy conversation in Singapore.
